We made history in Times Square with the first NYPD/FAA-approved drone flight over 100 choreographed performers to promote the final season of Netflix's Umbrella Academy.

Executed in collaboration with our partners at Founders Agency / Canoa, the production featured dancing in sync with three different digital billboards simultaneously.

Choreography by the amazing John Heginbotham, who also staged the iconic Footloose dance-off scene in the show, which was nominated for a World Choreography Award.

Huge thank you to the Times Square Alliance for their incredible support. If you live near or visit Manhattan, check out Times Square Arts, their Public Art Program, the largest platform for contemporary art in NYC. They do some incredible projects like "Midnight Moment" at 11:57pm when over 92 digital displays sync up and feature various works nightly.

And yes, it did rain, but fortunately we had 100 umbrellas. ☔

Master of Surprise & Delight

Charlie Todd smiling and holding a megaphone

DVRG director Charlie Todd lives to orchestrate extraordinary moments of surprise and delight. He got his start as a performer at the legendary UCB Comedy Theatre performing alongside Amy Poehler, Nick Kroll, and Aubrey Plaza, among others.

Soon after, Charlie created Improv Everywhere, an art project that pioneered large-scale surprise public performances, long before anyone had heard of the term “flash mob.”

Charlie was one of the first creators on YouTube and his channel defined an entire genre of comedy for the Internet age, receiving over half a billion lifetime views with legendary viral videos like Frozen Grand Central and the No Pants Subway Ride.

Mp3 Experiment participants smile and dance wearing headphones

Most recently, Charlie organized The Mp3 Experiment 19, the latest edition of his ongoing project that brings thousands of people together to secretly follow synchronized instructions delivered via headphones.

Drawing from the worlds of comedy and performance art, Charlie now brings his unique brand of chaos and joy to commercials, branded content, and television as a Director and Creative Producer. He’s worked with brands like Target, Google, and Samsung, and made series and pilots for NBC, MTV, and Disney+.
